I have two HD's, one with XP MCE 2005 and the second with Vista Beta 2. I had problem with vista, so I reformated the HD that vista was installed on. Now when I start my computer I still get the Vista boot manager. I want to remove that and go back to the origional way XP booted. Thanks

Boot
Hi,
Boot the WinXP CD and load the Recovery Console by hitting "r" when prompted. Logon to the installation, then run fixmbr.

And fixboot. Others have reported that fixboot is the key.

Thanks for your replies, Rick and Keith. I first tried 'FIXMBR' from the recovery console, and it failed to work. Then I did 'FIXBOOT' and it solved the problem.
Hi, i've nstalled vista, all ork well, suddeny turns black, my pc not work and all i have is a black screen and nothing more, any help? THANK YOU
I have tried to boot from a dual boot with xp and vista into xp but i get an error message. It says "boot ini missing or corupt, minint/boot. Any ideas how to fix this?
If you remove the dead entry and get the number of entries down to just the one for XP the boot options screen will not appear. Use VistaBootPro to delete the dead entries: http://www.vistabootpro.org/intro.php

Hello, how must i do to boot from the dvd vista ? if i set the dvd into the reader is it suffisant ? must i change somethings in the boot from the pc and how ? thanks
You need to go into the BIOS setup and change the boot order if it doesn't boot to the DVD already. Try just putting it in first then if that doesn't work you need to restart your PC and press and hold the DELETE key to start the setup. Some systems may use a different key but most do not. There you need to look for an option that allows you to select the boot order device. Once selected you need to save and exit. That should do it.
Good luck as a beta tester.
